A Philly FEASTival!

159004b01c1d11e39a3922000ae904da_7 On Thursday, September 12th, we were fortunate enough to check out the 2013 Philly FEASTVIAL for FringeArts presented by Audi, and Philadelphia Magazine/Foobooz.  Pier 9, on the Delaware River Waterfront, was transformed to an almost club-like experience of endless food and cocktails, complete with funky lighting and live performances. It was an epic night that brought together over 75 of Philly’s favorite restaurants, chefs and bars, along with their biggest fans and supporters. Once again, for a fourth year in a row, it is being called the “best party in Philadelphia”.

The evening began at 6pm with a VIP Hour that featured a private chef demonstration and exclusive bar service.  VIP tickets sold for $350. General Admission tickets sold for $250 and the event began at 7pm when restaurant stations and bars opened, along with biddings for the silent auction. The live auction took place at around 8pm, when FringeArts Producing Director Nick Stuccio and Board President Richard Bague were joined on stage by former Governor and Mayor Ed Rendell, along with several other title and presenting sponsors. Stephen Starr, whose restaurants held a big presence that evening, joined in on stage too.

The event was very well organized, complete with a fun photo booth, performances throughout, even Valet parking. The place was full of fun energy. Philly Fashion was on point (with a few exceptions) as everyone was dressed to impress.  However, there was only one star that night…the food!  It was great to see some familiar faces, old favorites and, of course, try some new stuff.  Some highlights for us were stopping by a long time favorite, Tria Cafe and Wine Bar, who never disappoint, as well as running into The Pour House, NJ who we voted for and won the Battle of the Burger earlier this month! It was also great to meet the people at Revolution House who served up one our favorite (quinoa) dishes of the night. It would have been impossible to sample even half of the great food that was there…but we definitely tried!  Check out the complete list of participating restaurants below, along with a slideshow of our night.  (If we have one complaint…while the lighting set the mood and ambience, it made it very difficult to take good pics. We should of brought the big Nikkon!  We apologize for the picture quality.)  If you missed Feastival this year, don’t let it happen again next year!  #Hungryformore
