Red Ball 2014

As we mentioned in our previous post Raising Awareness and Food in Philly, the 14th Annual Red Ball 2014 presented by Independence Blue Cross was held in Philadelphia on Saturday, March 8th, at the Please Touch Museum. The event takes place every year in honor of the American Red Cross, Southeastern Pennsylvania. We were happy to attend and take part in helping to raise money and awareness for such an important organization. The Red Ball is a “red-tie” gala which benefits the Red Cross House in University City. The Red Cross House has provided support and shelter for many families during natural disasters, life-threatening situations, and other emergencies.

The night began at 8pm and ended at midnight.  When we arrived, we found the museum to be unrecognizable. Red lights, red dresses and ties, and tables lined with beautiful desserts and dishes from popular local restaurants transformed this kid-haven into an elegant night of food, live music, dancing, a silent auction with fabulous prizes (including a Taylor Swift autographed guitar), celebrity chef sightings (including Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli), a VIP lounge, and beautiful people all gathering to help support an important cause. Wine was provided by Barefoot Wines and there were even mini-makeovers and make-up touch-ups by  Sh. cosmetics taking place throughout the night. We participated in a special raffle and though we did not win, were happy to donate money to such a worthy cause.

  1. Great photos–you’re right, the PTM was virtually unrecognizable (although it is hard to hide that SEPTA bus!).
