Colchagua Valley, Chile
Average Price: $15
Winemaker’s Notes: Delicate, bright yellow robe. The nose offers aromas of ripe pineapple, fresh banana, stewed Asian pumpkin and white flowers. On the palate, it combines freshness and volume with a pleasantly balanced finish. Ideal as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to fish, oysters, poultry and some soft cheeses.
Our Thoughts and Pairings: Fruity, crisp and dry! While we are not typical Chardonnay fans, this one won us over with its tropical fruit characteristics. We enjoyed it with some Brie cheese and crackers. Solid Chardonnay. We scored it 3 out of 5 stars on Vivino.Sauvignon Blanc Casablanca, Chile Vintage: 2013 Alcohol: 13% Average Price: $14
Winemaker’s Notes: Pale yellow tinged with green. The nose offers an abundance of fruit, in particular notes of white peaches,
pineapple, lychees, pears, green apple, melon and lime, with a few herbaceous notes such as sage and fennel, and
a hint of green pepper. The palate is fresh and develops with a balanced, persistent acidity. Drink young, within
two years, to fully appreciate the flavors.
Our Thoughts and Pairings: We enjoyed this Sauv Blanc on May 16th…International Sauvignon Blanc Day! As fans of Sauv Blanc, we have to say this is a great value for the price. We could smell and taste everything from peaches to lychee and even a hint of veggies and herbs, creating a very well balanced wine. No need to pair with anything! We scored it 4 out of 5 stars on Vivino.Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua Valley, Chile Vintage: 2012 Alcohol: 14% Average Price: $14
Winemaker’s Notes: Beautiful ruby color. The nose opens with intense notes of fresh red fruit, such as cherries and
strawberries, lighlty underscored with aromas of thyme, bay and mint. Superb volume on the palate, with soft yet well-defined tannins. A wine with a fine balance of fruit.
Our Thoughts and Pairings: At first sight, nose and sip it was lighter than anticipated both in color, scent and taste. After about 45 mintues of decanting, very smooth and well balanced Cab with notes of cherry, pepper and vanilla. Enjoyable on its own or pair with a nice steak or burger. Scored 3.5 stars on Vivino.
